Great news for our snowmobiling friends! We keep getting more and more snow to the point we don't know where to put it all. That means the trails will have lots of snow early in the season. Once you park your car or truck, you never have to "fire up" anything but your snowmobile to get to the hotel or trails, a short 8/10 of a mile away and easily accessible. (See our "SNOWMOBILER" tab for pictorial how to get to the trails from our property).
The Earthwood Inn provides plenty of parking for your trailer, right next to the hotel, and offers fantastic food at the on site restaurant which was featured in the June 2013 issue of the Duluth and Superior Magazine. The Earthwood Inn was rated as "Hidden Food Gem of the Northshore".
The onsite bar provides beer, wine, and various liquors to quench your thirst after that fun day of snowmobiling. No need to leave the property for all the great things that make snowmobiling the premier sport of northern Minnesota! Check out the "SNOWMOBILER" tab for trailmap and pictorial that takes you from the Earthwood to the Two Harbors entry trail,

The Agate Bay Crafters enjoyed a great show held at Eathwoods Pierre the Voyageur Park. All the vendors had a great show, during the multi-day event. Everything from carvings, furs, clothing, photos, and paintings, to mention a few were available for review from our local artisans. The days began with a nice breakfast offered to the vendors by the Earthwood staff so as to make sure their energy levels were at their peak and for lunch, visitors had opportunity to eat great hamburgers direct from the outdoor grill, along with hand squeezed lemonade for a refreshing treat! Come join us next year for our "2nd Annual" Agate Bay Crafters show to be held at the "WOOD"!

Thanks to our new chef Vicki Dye, we have added a lot of new food items to our selection at the Earthwood. Vicki is whipping up many home-cooked specials, different ones each day to tide us over when a burger just won't do. In the past couple weeks, we've enjoyed Hot Beef and Hot Turkey sandwiches with mashed potatoes and vegetable, homemade egg rolls with fried rice, Turkey enchiladas, Asian chciken wraps and much more! For those who can't get past the Ragin Cajun or Philly Steak Sandwich, those are still available as well! C'mon in and see us, specials are never over $7 and our lunch menu still offers a bargain with the $4 cheeseburger and fries, breaded chicken or fish and chips. Let's get together over the holidays!

The Earthwood Inn welcomes Grrls, an all-female band that has been rocking the north shore for years. Grrls will play Saturday June 18, the night of Grandma's Marathon. Instead of fighting crowds and confusion in Canal Park, check out some great music in a great environment at the Earthwood Inn. Grrls come highly recommended and will be appearing at the Earthwood for the very first time. Let's make them feel welcome!

One of the most popular bands to perform at Earthwood over the years has been Stubborn Country. Headed by Jack and Nanda Kangas, the group performs classic country tunes and never fails to fire up the crowd with their energy and talent. One of the mainstays of Earthwood Stock for the last three years, Stubborn Country gives the feeling they were born to perform, and they promise to get the bar shaking with songs like 'Ghost Riders in the Sky', 'Jackson', 'I Love this Bar', and 'Proud Mary'. Iknow that last one isn't a country song, but you've got to hear Nanda sing it! Recently, long-time bass player Dale left the group but Big Dave Anderson was enlisted tro join and the sound remains true to their roots. They are one of the best live bar bands you will see in the area, check it out!

The mighty voyageur Pierre, has arrived at his new home, Earthwood Bar, Grill and Motel. The journey itself was quite easy after the extensive amount of time it took to remove him from his previous spot. After initially noticing the head wobbling, Pierre's noggin was removed cleanly, but the base proved to be difficult as advertised to separate from Pierre. Although his lower legs will need repair, we are excited and happy he is finally at the Earthwood. Thank you to Two Harborites and surrounding residents for your enthusiasm and positive comments about the move. We have begun a drive to raise funds for the repairs and other costs associated with the purchase. We started serving soup on Friday, the day the move started, and already there have been several generous donations. Stay tuned for more details on Pierre, better yet, stop by and visit him. And us!

Pierre the Voyageur has a new home at the Earthwood Inn, Bar and Grill! The sale of Pierre to the Earthwood insures he will remain a part of Two Harbors while moving to a site where he will welcome every vehicle entering the town via Highway 61. According to Earthwood manager Paul Belsito, keeping Pierre here was an important factor in purchasing the large statue that has graced Seventh Avenue for more than 50 years. “This was a large financial commitment on the part of our new owners, but they feel very strongly about Pierre remaining in Two Harbors.”
The Voyageur will move to his new home shortly, where a campaign, called “Prepare Pierre”, will begin the process of refurbishing him to his former glory. It is the intent of the Earthwood to restore Pierre to his original operation, which involves his head turning, his eyes lighting up, and of course his speaking to visitors. In addition, Pierre will receive a new set of clothes via a fresh paint job!
The cost of moving and restoring Pierre will be greater than the purchase price. The Earthwood will attempt to raise money for these tasks through events and food specials. The first special will start after Pierre arrives. As part of the Prepare Pierre project, The Earthwood will have a delicious homemade soup on the menu with one dollar from every bowl going toward the cost of transporting and standing up the mighty Voyageur. “We hope that the community is as excited as we are about keeping Pierre here,” Belsito said. “Every resident that wishes to support this cause can do so while enjoying a bowl of soup, and every dollar does help to offset these tremendous costs.” Perhaps in future years, the sight of Pierre will signal a welcome home for residents and a greeting for weary travelers looking for a place to stop for the night. It certainly means that the history of Pierre will be inter-twined with Two Harbors for many years to come, and that is something we can all celebrate.

In 1971, the Radosevich family (Tony, Marg and seven children), purchased the House Of Sweden, a small restaurant and motel on the outskirts of Two Harbors. They changes the name of the business to the Earthwood Inn, added a bar, and began a 40 year run as owners. There were a lot of good times over the years, ups and downs as the economic times changes, but always, The Earthwood was a refuge and second home for many in the community. For the past thirteen years, Tony and Margs' daughter Stacy and son-in-law Paul ran the business and the Earthwood has remained a thriving business in the area. With Tony's passing three years ago and Marg relocating to an apt in Two Harbors, a decision was made to sell the Earthwood. On November 19, 2010, new owners Eric Potts and Sandra Fritz took over the operations of the Earthwood Inn. Since then, there has been a whirlwind of activity as they combine a new and positive energy with their desire to repair much of the worn-out infrastructure. They immediately informed everyone they had no desire to change everything that the Earthwood had come to represent, and they have been true to their word. The name is the same, the staff is the same, the customer base continues to grow, and you are likely to see new ideas implemented along with the things you have become accustomed to seeing. Paul Belsito remains as manager of the bar, grill and motel, bartenders Lindsay, Jen, JoJo, Brian and Peg and cooks Chase and Terry are also still here. Everyone is excited about the possibilities for improvements in what we are able to offer our customers and you will definitely see exciting changes in the months ahead. Please stop in and see us, you are always welcome!
